6 Months! Yay for 3rd trimester!!

Last month when I took my 1 hour glucose test, I failed it so epicly (208!) they sent me strait to the gestational diabetes specialist, no 3 hour glucose test, do not pass go, do not collect $200... that was about 2 weeks ago, and baby girl was weighing a little heavy for how far along I was (2 lbs). It all makes sense why I gained 8 lbs in a month! So now I get the joy of checking my blood sugar (by poking my fingers...) 4 times a day and made some diet changes (very few sweets, if any at all; more complex carbs- brown rice, whole wheat breads, etc; and learning to pair the carbs with proteins). So far, it's working and my numbers look super good (as of my dr appt this las week- I get to go every 2 weeks right now!), so I may be able to decrease to 2 finger pricks a day in the next month or so! Yay! Also hope to avoid needing to give myself insulin shots or have a c-section! But, you know, whatever happens, it'll be best for the baby and I. Never knew I could make myself bleed several times a day, but you gotta do what you gotta do to keep you and your baby healthy!

How far along? 27 weeks! Woot!

Baby's size?
apparently as big as rutabaga...not sure I've actually seen one in real life...
13.6 to 14.8 inches and 1.5 to 2.5 lbs

Maternity clothes? Yep- gotta start using my full panel pants! The bump is getting big!

Sleep: Most of the time it's good, but turns out eating pizza for dinner causes super bad heartburn and keeps me up half the night...

Best moment(s) this past month: Watching my church's annual general conference has been pretty wonderful- such inspiring messages! Also, March holidays were pretty great- pi day (with pizza and a peach pie!), St. Patrick's day (yay for Irish stew!), and Easter (Texas "family" dinner and Easter egg hunts!)

Miss Anything? Easy over eggs still! I'm missing the sweets, but getting used to it. Also missing not having to pay attention to every meal and snack- that's been hard.

Movement: Yep! She's making my whole tummy jump these days!

Anything making you queasy or sick: Once in awhile when I don't eat breakfast soon enough in the morning, but nothing in specific
Cravings: Mostly breakfast food still, but the ones with all the carbs :o( I may have to just eat some french toast here in the next couple weeks...

Labor Signs: Still some Braxton Hicks once in awhile, but that's it.

Gender: Yay for a girl!

Symptoms: Still some hip/ lower back pain if I stay in the same position too long, sometimes walking is hard.
Belly Button in or out? It pops out sometimes! So funny when it happens!

Wedding rings on or off? On!
Happy or Moody most of the time: Some times moody, especially when the baby has super whiny days, but thankfully there are still many happy days.

Looking forward to: Getting close to finishing my job UT! Still have very mixed feelings about the experience, but it'll sure be nice to not have to take the bus to work!

5 (and a half :-/ better late than never...) months! With a girl!

And we have a girl! So excited! Every week I change what name I like best- today it's Eleanor, last week it was Juliette (watched a lot of Psych :o), who knows what next week will bring! As apparently I've started to gain weight finally- 8 lbs in a month! Too much to make it a habit, but since I've only gained 10 lbs total, they're not too worried about it. :o) And fingers crossed I passed my glucose test #1- just took it on Friday.

How far along? 24 weeks, almost to my mental "she'll be okay if she's born by __ weeks" date! (it's 25 weeks, though of course, we're definitely aiming for 36-40 weeks)

Baby's size?
As long as an ear of corn, or the size of a cantaloupe- so big! About 11 inches long and 1.3 lbs.

Maternity clothes? Yep! I have a couple breezy shirts I can still wear, but definitely wearing the pants and shirts, and some shorts!  Hello Texas spring weather!

Sleep: Sometimes fine, sometimes I lay awake for at least an hour. Not fun, trying to decrease my evening sugars to see if that helps...

Best moment(s) this past month: Went to Las Vegas for my niece's baptism- it was so great spending time with them! And Simon was so cute with their dogs and playing with his older cousins!

Miss Anything? Still over easy eggs... sigh... I will eat so many in the hospital once the baby is born!!!

Movement: Lots! She's quite active right when I'm trying to fall asleep, so that definitely doesn't help get me to sleep...

Anything making you queasy or sick: Not eating soon enough in the morning- bleh! I've thrown up twice this week because of it- note to self, you need to eat before showering...
Cravings: I really wanted brownies last night, so still sweets. And just breakfast food overall- french toast, eggs, cereal, breakfast sandwiches, you name it!

Labor Signs: Some braxton hicks at least once a week, but I'm good and drink water and rest for a bit, and they go away like a charm

Gender: A girl!! So very excited! Now to figure out her name... so many options!!

Symptoms: Feeling really big/ heavy, but that makes sense since I'm 8 lbs heavier :o) Some hip pain and trouble walking if I've been sitting for awhile beforehand.
Belly Button in or out? In still, but it's getting shallow! Funny how last time I was so worried about it being an outtie, and now, I'm not too concerned- it'll happen if it happens, ya know.

Wedding rings on or off? On!
Happy or Moody most of the time: Mostly happy, but tearing up over tender things in movies, TV shows, the typical pregnancy stuff :o)

Looking forward to: No more traveling until after baby comes! Also, so many holidays! Pi day, St. Patrick's Day, Easter! And I'm ready for them this year- so excited!

4 months and almost halfway there!

Happy February and month of Love! See that little tummy?  It's not just from cookies anymore! :o)

How far along? 18 weeks- almost halfway!

Baby's size?
A bell pepper! Not much bigger than a peach, really- about 5.5 inches, 7 oz.

Maternity clothes? Yep! Some of my shirts are getting too tight/ short to cover the bump, and I mostly wear the pants cuz it's just more comfy! And comfy is never overrated when you're pregnant.

Sleep: I'm having more trouble falling asleep, and I wake up to shift sides since I'm too big to sleep on my back now :o(

Best moment(s) this past month: Our trip to California was such a great time! Lots of family, friends (shout outs to Martha and James, Savannah and Kelly, Uncle Del and Aunt Roxanne, and Laurel for being such great hosts, babysitters, tour guides, and/or bed and breakfasts! :o), and cool places to see! Highlights included beaches, Monterrey Bay Aquarium, and Disney- all firsts for Simon! And we got a half day date at Disneyland thanks to Aunt Roxanne- yay!
Miss Anything? Back to wanting to eat runny eggs- so so good with toast! And eating all the batters (brownie, cake, cookie...) Also, being able to take meds- I'm having more migraines this time, and they're kicking my butt!

Movement: Some little movements here and there, but not too much yet.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Not too much now (I can eat cereal again!), but I got queasy with asparagus today- so random and so sad!
Cravings: Lots of sweets! But those trigger the migraines :o( Also still loving the homemade egg McMuffins!

Labor Signs: Nope.

Gender: So soon!! We find out February 17! Though my mom, Nathan, and previous roommate Christa are very much rooting for/ already decided that it's a girl :o)

Symptoms: More headaches this week, some hip pain, but I have more energy! Yay 2nd trimester!
Belly Button in or out? In still.

Wedding rings on or off? On!
Happy or Moody most of the time: Back and forth- I just started a new job, which is stressful just by itself, but this week is going really well, so I'm hoping we're on the up and up! It also doesn't hurt that it's beautiful weather in Austin (70-80 degrees and sunny! you keep the snow, I'll take spring 8 months a year!)

Looking forward to:Finding out the baby's gender, having some down time from trips, and a San Antonio trip to Sea World with some amazing friends (thanks Peter and Angie!)
