8.5 months- so so close!

This was the week for doctor's appointments! Monday was my version at the hospital to turn baby girl head down (she's been breach for over a month now)- it worked! Wednesday was my (hopefully) last specialist appointment for my gestational diabetes- blood sugar is still diet controlled and baby girl is 6 lbs, 13 oz (40 percentile). Today was my regular weekly appointment with my OBGYN- no signs/symptoms of pre-eclampisa! I'm 3 cm dilated and 70% effaced, so the doctor is anticipating baby will come before my next appointment with her next Thursday- hooray! Just doing the waiting game here- so excited!

How far along? 38 weeks! We're almost there!

Baby's size?
She's 6 lbs, 13 oz, 40 percentile, which is super good for having gestational diabetes!

Maternity clothes? All the time! Some shirts are beginning to be too small though... :o)

Sleep: So hard to get out of bed for bathroom runs at night! And to turn over! And some nights I have trouble falling asleep. But I try to enjoy these sleep difficulties before I have a little lady keeping me up at night :o)

Best moment(s) this past month: Getting stuff done! Who knew that checking off items off your crazy nesting to-do list would feel so satisfying! Also, I really enjoyed the last couple weeks of work teaching at University of Texas- yay for a happy ending!

Miss Anything? Not hurting while I walk- that is the pits!

Movement: Yep! She moves differently these days, especially since we had her turned on Monday (via a version at the hospital- ouch!), so she's now head down.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Not really- sometimes eating too much fatty food hurts my gall bladder, but that's from before pregnancy.
Cravings: Not really. My sugar cravings really have calmed down since I've had to cut back so much with the gestational diabetes- a blessing though it's been hard at times.

Labor Signs: Yep! Every night I have 2-3 good ones (30+ seconds long) before I fall asleep. Yay for getting ready to have a baby!
Gender: Girl! Still working on cutting down our name list :o)

Symptoms: Pain when I walk, fatigue (naps everyday!), feeling large.
Belly Button in or out? It's mostly flat, but sometimes it pops out!

Wedding rings on or off? On! And my hands haven't really swollen at all, so that's good for the pre-eclampsia watch I have going on.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy most of the time, but I cried yesterday and today due to being in pain. I slipped on one of Simon's toys last night, didn't fall, but catching myself caused my body to stretch more that it can these days, so I've been pretty owie.

Looking forward to: The baby coming! Even with not sleeping once she's here (and major body recovery, no matter how she ends up coming), it has to be better than how uncomfortable I feel these days! Bring it!

7 Months down, who knows how many months/ weeks to go!!

This month has just flown by! So much to do, and it seems like we're running out of time! Anyone was to come over and help me hang pictures and caulk the bathroom?? Because, of course, those projects must be done before baby comes. :o) I didn't have the "nesting" instinct much when I was pregnant with Simon (maybe since I was so busy working full time), but it's been an adventure this time around!

How far along? 31 weeks! Counting down the weeks with everything left we have to do...

Baby's size?
the internets say say over 16 inches long and about 3.5 lbs, but her last ultrasound 2 weeks ago had her at 3 lbs 4 oz, so she's probably bigger than 3.5 lbs now. I have another appointment with the specialist (yay for extra ultrasounds! One of the perks of gestational diabetes :o) this week, so we'll see how much she's grown in 3 weeks!

Maternity clothes? Yep! Gotta get me some new cool shirts now that the temperature is climbing- yay for Texas springtime!

Sleep: Heartburn and a busy, planning all the things brain are what keep me up usually. And add in one trip to the bathroom a night, and sleep is getting more tricky. Gotta get to bed earlier!

Best moment(s) this past month: Having a roommate for the weeks that Nathan was working crazy hours was such a blessing! It was also wonderful having my dad visit for a couple days- Simon started saying Grandpa and everything! And lastly, having my husband home and not working 60+ hour weeks since Wednesday has been wonderful! Yay for (hopefully) the end of a busy season at work!

Miss Anything? Being able to move easily and not being in pain! Rolling over at night is ridiculously hard, and the lower back/ hip pain has moved into the fun sciatic pain that runs all the way down the leg- yikes!

Movement: She's crazy in there! Especially at night and when we get a big storm (which seems to be once a week these days!) I don't remember Simon banging so many organs in there, so I'm a little worried little lady will somehow be more active that him!

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope- thankfully that part of my pregnancy seems to be over.
Cravings: None that I can think of right now

Labor Signs: The Braxton hicks has been kicking it up a notch, but thankfully it still goes away with rest and water.
Gender: Still a girl on all the ultrasounds!

Symptoms: Acid reflux is a beast! And sciatic pain stinks. It's also hard moving if I stay in one position for too long- got keep mixing it up!
Belly Button in or out? On the verge of popping out! I just noticed it a couple days when Simon demanded to see what was under my shirt when I told him baby sister was in my tummy! So sweet! Here's to hoping he doesn't get too jealous when she arrives.

Wedding rings on or off? On! So grateful I went ahead and got my rings resized- it's so nice being able to still wear them! I'm also not swollen at all in the hands and feet this time (though I'm not sure how much they went back the last time...)
Happy or Moody most of the time: I've definitely been more moody this month, but it's been a rough time with Nathan being so busy. So so glad to have him back in Austin and working less!

Looking forward to: Last temple trip before baby comes, finishing up projects around the house (the cars aren't going to clean themselves! and that definitely needs to be done before lady comes :o), and spending lots of time with my boys before our world is turned upside down becoming a family of 4!

6 Months! Yay for 3rd trimester!!

Last month when I took my 1 hour glucose test, I failed it so epicly (208!) they sent me strait to the gestational diabetes specialist, no 3 hour glucose test, do not pass go, do not collect $200... that was about 2 weeks ago, and baby girl was weighing a little heavy for how far along I was (2 lbs). It all makes sense why I gained 8 lbs in a month! So now I get the joy of checking my blood sugar (by poking my fingers...) 4 times a day and made some diet changes (very few sweets, if any at all; more complex carbs- brown rice, whole wheat breads, etc; and learning to pair the carbs with proteins). So far, it's working and my numbers look super good (as of my dr appt this las week- I get to go every 2 weeks right now!), so I may be able to decrease to 2 finger pricks a day in the next month or so! Yay! Also hope to avoid needing to give myself insulin shots or have a c-section! But, you know, whatever happens, it'll be best for the baby and I. Never knew I could make myself bleed several times a day, but you gotta do what you gotta do to keep you and your baby healthy!

How far along? 27 weeks! Woot!

Baby's size?
apparently as big as rutabaga...not sure I've actually seen one in real life...
13.6 to 14.8 inches and 1.5 to 2.5 lbs

Maternity clothes? Yep- gotta start using my full panel pants! The bump is getting big!

Sleep: Most of the time it's good, but turns out eating pizza for dinner causes super bad heartburn and keeps me up half the night...

Best moment(s) this past month: Watching my church's annual general conference has been pretty wonderful- such inspiring messages! Also, March holidays were pretty great- pi day (with pizza and a peach pie!), St. Patrick's day (yay for Irish stew!), and Easter (Texas "family" dinner and Easter egg hunts!)

Miss Anything? Easy over eggs still! I'm missing the sweets, but getting used to it. Also missing not having to pay attention to every meal and snack- that's been hard.

Movement: Yep! She's making my whole tummy jump these days!

Anything making you queasy or sick: Once in awhile when I don't eat breakfast soon enough in the morning, but nothing in specific
Cravings: Mostly breakfast food still, but the ones with all the carbs :o( I may have to just eat some french toast here in the next couple weeks...

Labor Signs: Still some Braxton Hicks once in awhile, but that's it.

Gender: Yay for a girl!

Symptoms: Still some hip/ lower back pain if I stay in the same position too long, sometimes walking is hard.
Belly Button in or out? It pops out sometimes! So funny when it happens!

Wedding rings on or off? On!
Happy or Moody most of the time: Some times moody, especially when the baby has super whiny days, but thankfully there are still many happy days.

Looking forward to: Getting close to finishing my job UT! Still have very mixed feelings about the experience, but it'll sure be nice to not have to take the bus to work!

5 (and a half :-/ better late than never...) months! With a girl!

And we have a girl! So excited! Every week I change what name I like best- today it's Eleanor, last week it was Juliette (watched a lot of Psych :o), who knows what next week will bring! As apparently I've started to gain weight finally- 8 lbs in a month! Too much to make it a habit, but since I've only gained 10 lbs total, they're not too worried about it. :o) And fingers crossed I passed my glucose test #1- just took it on Friday.

How far along? 24 weeks, almost to my mental "she'll be okay if she's born by __ weeks" date! (it's 25 weeks, though of course, we're definitely aiming for 36-40 weeks)

Baby's size?
As long as an ear of corn, or the size of a cantaloupe- so big! About 11 inches long and 1.3 lbs.

Maternity clothes? Yep! I have a couple breezy shirts I can still wear, but definitely wearing the pants and shirts, and some shorts!  Hello Texas spring weather!

Sleep: Sometimes fine, sometimes I lay awake for at least an hour. Not fun, trying to decrease my evening sugars to see if that helps...

Best moment(s) this past month: Went to Las Vegas for my niece's baptism- it was so great spending time with them! And Simon was so cute with their dogs and playing with his older cousins!

Miss Anything? Still over easy eggs... sigh... I will eat so many in the hospital once the baby is born!!!

Movement: Lots! She's quite active right when I'm trying to fall asleep, so that definitely doesn't help get me to sleep...

Anything making you queasy or sick: Not eating soon enough in the morning- bleh! I've thrown up twice this week because of it- note to self, you need to eat before showering...
Cravings: I really wanted brownies last night, so still sweets. And just breakfast food overall- french toast, eggs, cereal, breakfast sandwiches, you name it!

Labor Signs: Some braxton hicks at least once a week, but I'm good and drink water and rest for a bit, and they go away like a charm

Gender: A girl!! So very excited! Now to figure out her name... so many options!!

Symptoms: Feeling really big/ heavy, but that makes sense since I'm 8 lbs heavier :o) Some hip pain and trouble walking if I've been sitting for awhile beforehand.
Belly Button in or out? In still, but it's getting shallow! Funny how last time I was so worried about it being an outtie, and now, I'm not too concerned- it'll happen if it happens, ya know.

Wedding rings on or off? On!
Happy or Moody most of the time: Mostly happy, but tearing up over tender things in movies, TV shows, the typical pregnancy stuff :o)

Looking forward to: No more traveling until after baby comes! Also, so many holidays! Pi day, St. Patrick's Day, Easter! And I'm ready for them this year- so excited!
